GCC Lauds King for Amendments

The GCC is praising the efforts made by His Majesty, King Hamad Bin Isa al Khalifa because of the endorsement he gives to the amendments of the Constitution.  GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashd al-Zayani said that the endorsement was an extremely significant expression of the King's desire to forge down the path of reform.
Amendments of the Constitution will allow the people of Bahrain more power and influence in the government, and would enable all parties in Bahrain to be represented through election.  This means the government will relinquish power more to the people.
With this endorsement, the Kingdom of Bahrain is one step closer (albeit a huge step) to democratic reform that is desired by the people and the Royal Family.

LA Dodgers Introduce New Ownership

There are a few things that just go together in the United States.  Apple pie and ice cream.  Fourth of July and fireworks.  When it comes to baseball, only one team rivals the New York Yankees for the fitting partner.  The Los Angeles Dodgers.

One of the most storied franchises in not just baseball, but all of professional sports, the Dodgers have turned the page on a dark era of ownership, and found something magical on the other side.  Los Angeles Laker great, Earvin "Magic" Johnson joins a team of owners that looks to bring the Dodgers back into the light of Major League Baseball.  Other investors with Johnson are Mark Walter, Stan Kasten, Peter Guber, Todd Boehly, and Bobby Patton.

The goal of the new ownership?  First and foremost, to bring winning back to Los Angeles.  They want to win baseball games.  They want to win championships.  But even more so, they want to win the fans of southern California and the country.  They seek to restore greatness to a team that gave us Sandy Koufax, Tommy Lasorda, and the legendary Jackie Robinson.

Heritage is Key to Protection and Preservation

Heritage has so many roles in our lives.  Knowing where you come from helps you get to where you are going.  A certain pride comes from those who understand and appreciate heritage, tradition, and culture.  Remembering who we are and preserving that remembrance allows people to draw on the strength of those who have gone before as they try to do the same for future generations.

His Highness, Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman al Khalifa, visited with the Director of the State Hermitage Museum in the Federal Republic of Russia, Mikhail Piotrovski.  The meeting took place in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In speaking about heritage, His Highness the Premier stated that heritage is the protection and the strength of nations.  It is the bridge that links the past and the future together.  It gives identity and purpose.

His Highness also welcomed the chance to exchange expertise between the Bahrain National Museum and the State Hermitage Museum of the Federal Republic of Russia.

Mikhail Piotrovski, understanding the rich history and heritage that comes with the Arab world, commended Bahrain for its strength in preserving their special history and in acting as the foundation of Arab culture.

Facebook to Save Lives

Social networking is becoming ever more popular.  It's used to make new friends, to find employment, to recommend favorite restaurants and movies, and to stay connected.  Companies like Facebook have taken this phenomenon and capitalized on natural human instinct.

But Facebook has transformed social networking yet again.  This time, it's to save lives!  Billionaire co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has introduced Facebook's new initiative as a way to help those needing organ transplants receive what they so desperately need.  No, they don't "facebook" or tweet, "Does anyone have a lung I can use for a while?"  But rather it's to raise awareness.  It's to share experiences.  It's to bring hope to those who search for donors, and gratitude to those who have donated to save a life.

18 people a day die while waiting for a transplant.  Facebook allows the global community to fight that number.
Thanks to Mark Zuckerberg and the selfless and innovative staff at Facebook!

German Ambassador Supports Bahrain

Internationally renowned singer-songwriter, John Mayer eloquently sings, "And when you trust your television, what you get it what you got.  Cause when they own the information they can bend it all they want."

Certainly this has happened in the case of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the protests of the people and the retaliations of the defenders.  It is certainly a tragedy that the whole story has not been shared, but has been spun in a way that creates animosity and contempt for the peaceful country of Bahrain.
However, another supporter of the King and the country has come forward, praising Bahraini people and their efforts for peace.  German Ambassador, Sabine Taufmann, while meeting with Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, showered Bahrain with praise for the successful execution of the F1 Grand Prix, specifically the security efforts, and the civil way that the situation was addressed.  Taufmann said that the success was also a reflection on how Bahrain has handled recent protests, and was very appreciated worldwide.
Ambassador Taufmann also condemned the world media for the poor job they have done in disseminating the truth in regards to the protests in Bahrain.  She rebuked the attacks on the policemen and other defenders of the country.
Though the international media hasn't gotten it right yet, the world leaders are beginning to take action in favor of the support Bahrain needs.  Those outlets that "bend it all they want" should be held accountable, and the world leaders are where that call of accountability needs to begin.
